There’s two choices when you are installing a fresh WordPress for your new website, its either you extract the files from your root directory, which makes the root directory cluttered with WordPress files.
Now usually, when we upload the WordPress files on the server, it’s usually on a directory called wordpress/ so when you run the WordPress on your site it goes like this. http://www.yoursite.com/wordpress/, but what if you want to run the wordpress from your directory to the root directory? How will you setup your WordPress so that it works like http://www.yoursite.com/ even if the WorPress files are on a directory on your server?
This is How to Run your WordPress From your Sub Directory to Your Root Location
Here we go, assuming that we have already your wordpress files on a directory called wordpress by default, but I suggest to rename your directory cause “wordpress” is somewhat kind of generic, don’t ya think? So try to name it so that it will be hard to guess.
Then on the WordPress directory on your server, copy the index.php and place it on the root directory of your website. And then were going to open and edit the index.php file on the root directory and change the line:

require('./wp-blog-header.php');
//to
require('./nameofyourdirectory/wp-blog-header.php');
?>
This is how your new index.php file on your root directory looks like:

require('./nameofyourdirectory/wp-blog-header.php');
?>
Then upload the edited index.php on your root directory. Next we will log on to the WordPress admin page. Head over to Settings > General and change your WordPress Address (URL) so that it includes the folder name you used and Blog Address( URL) to your website domain name. When you are done it should look something like this:
And that’s it. You should be done and able to Run your WordPress from a Sub Directory to your Root Directory.
